Epicenter says:
The world of digital publishing can be a lot more complicated than deciding whether to buy a Kindle, Nook, or iPad. If you want to know just how complex things are getting, just ask a publisher, author, or agent about Andrew Wylie.
Along with Amazon announcing its new Kindle, the major — and I mean, epoch-making — news in digital publishing in these circles last week was when Wylie, a literary agent, finally made good on his threat to bypass publishers by inking a deal giving the exclusive e-book rights to his agency’s backlist to Amazon, through his imprint called Odyssey Editions.

YouTube API Blog says:
There's been a lot of discussion lately about whether or not the HTML5 <video> tag is going to replace Flash Player for video distribution on the web. We’ve been excited about the HTML5 effort and <video> tag for quite a while now, and most YouTube videos can now be played via our HTML5 player. This work has shown us that, while the <video> tag is a big step forward for open standards, the Adobe Flash Platform will continue to play a critical role in video distribution.

Book design is not ebook design

Mary Griffith (author of Viral Learning, writes:
I’ve learned quite a bit about graphic design, especially book design, over the past couple decades—just enough to be dangerous, I suppose, but certainly enough to do a workmanlike job on Viral Learning, at least. My do-it-yourself design certainly wouldn’t win any design awards, but it’s good enough to keep it from irritating me every time I try to read any of it. Given how picky I am about text looking decent, that’s no small thing.
